Welcome to our blog post on Jump Festa 2023! In this post, we'll be sharing all of the exciting announcements and highlights from the recent event.
For those who may not be familiar, Jump Festa is an annual celebration of all things manga and anime. It's a chance for fans to get a sneak peek at new releases and upcoming projects, as well as meet some of their favorite creators and voice actors.
So, without further ado, let's dive into the highlights from Jump Festa 2023!
Jujutsu Kaisen:
The creator of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series hinted that it may be coming to a close in the near future, with the 18th volume of the English translation being released on December 20.
Season 2 for JJK has also been announced to consist of two consistent cours starting July 2023. This will probably give us episodes from July 2023 through the end of the year!
Naruto/Boruto:
A character popularity contest was launched to determine the protagonist of the next Naruto/Boruto spin-off manga. English readers can vote on the Narutop 99 English language website.
The Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime will be starting a new arc in February, featuring the Code Arc that has been ongoing in the manga since chapter 56.
Boruto will adapt the Sasuke’s Story—The Uchiha and the Heavenly Stardust (Sasuke Retsuden) novel.
A ton of us are sad we didn't get a reanimation... but oh well.
Spy x Family:
The popular series Spy x Family will be getting a second season and an original film in 2023, with the movie covering new plot material separate from the manga.
Tatsuya Endo is supervising the story for the Spy x Family movie
Chainsaw Man:
This series didn't reveal much in terms of the anime, but it did give fans a sneak peek at the upcoming chapter. Tatsuki Fujimoto sent a message thanking fans for attending the panel.
Chainsaw Man gave a sneak peek at the upcoming chapter and revealed that the second half of the series will revolve around Himeno
Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba:
This popular series had a panel at Jump Festa, though it didn't reveal too much. However, it was announced that a special brochure featuring the Upper Moon demons will be given out to two million visitors of the upcoming Demon Slayer movie.
One Piece:
One Piece stage featured a performance by Uta and a discussion with the Straw Hat cast
Eichiro Oda sent a letter recounting the year's events for the franchise, including the release of a new movie and the end of the Wano Arc
Oda mentioned that the manga is attracting a younger audience and that he has no plans to end the series anytime soon
One Piece Odyssey game coming in 2023, and Oda is working on the drafts for the first season of the live-action series
A big conflict between "that person and that person" is coming up in the manga. Oda later goes on describing the fight as a "free for all battle-royale" and he "hopes no one dies".
Hell's Paradise (Jigokuraku):
A new trailer was released for the Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku anime, set to premiere in April 2023 and animated by MAPPA (the studio behind Chainsaw Man and Attack on Titan). The story follows a former ninja on a journey to a mysterious island to obtain the Elixir of Life.
Mashale: Magic and Muscle:
A new trailer was also unveiled for the upcoming Mashle: Magic and Muscle anime, which follows a character with no magical ability trying to prove that muscles are just as good as magic. The series, animated by A-1 Pictures (known for Sword Art Online), is set to premiere in April 2023.
Dr. Stone:
A trailer for the third season of the Dr. Stone anime was also released, set to air in April 2023, which will continue following the Kingdom of Science as they travel to the mysterious island that caused the petrification of the world 3,700 years ago.
Yusuke Kobayashi, Ryota Suzuki, Gen Sato, and Kengo Kawanishi attended the event, and Maaya Sakamoto recorded a message about her new character, Francois.
Blue Exorcist:
A brief teaser trailer was shared for the return of the Blue Exorcist anime, though it is currently unknown what the new season or series will cover or when it will be released.
Bleach:
A new key visual was revealed for the finale of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc of the BLEACH anime.
The anime is set to return in 2023.
Tite Kubo, the creator of the BLEACH manga, supervised the new anime and provided some of his scrapped ideas.
Some parts of the story from the manga will be cut from the anime, such as Unohana's past.
Black Clover:
The Black Clover: Sword of The Wizard King movie will be coming to Netflix on March 31st 2023.
Undead Unluck:
A teaser trailer for this newly announced anime series is out. This series is set to air in 2023.
Haikyu!:
The recording sessions for the Haikyu! movie have not yet begun.
The Gekidan Haikyu stage play, directed by Kenta Suga, will have its first performance in August of next year.
Keishiro Kato will play Hinata in the stage play.
A kickoff event for the Haikyu! movies is scheduled for August 2023.
Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective:
Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective: Akira Amano's popular manga series is getting an anime adaptation by Diomedéa. The series follows the titular detective as he investigates strange cases and unravels the mysteries behind them.
Ayakashi Triangle:
This new series revealed a trailer and key visual at Jump Festa, and was attended by creator Kentaro Yabuki.
To Cute Crisis:
This series revealed a key visual and announced that it will premiere in April 2023. The main cast, which includes Yumiri Hanamori, Natsumi Fujiwara, Jin Ogasawara, and Saya Aizawa, also attended the panel.
Rurouni Kenshin:
A reboot of this classic series was announced, and a new trailer was revealed at Jump Festa. Rie Takahashi, Makoto Koichi, and Taku Yashiro will voice the main characters.
Mission: Yozakura Family:
Silver Link will be animating the newly annoucned anime adaptation of Mission: Yozakura Family. This new series was given a 2024 Premiere date as well as a PV.
Overall, Jump Festa was a highly anticipated event for anime fans, with a variety of exciting announcements and updates. With so much to look forward to in the coming years, fans will have plenty to keep them occupied.
